The hospital accreditation system in Indonesia serves as a key instrument in improving healthcare service quality, patient safety, and hospital operational efficiency. This article analyses the implementation of accreditation using the New Public Management (NPM) approach, Donabedian’s Structure-Process-Outcome (SPO) model, and Total Quality Management (TQM). The research method involves a literature review from various academic sources related to hospital accreditation, focusing on implementation effectiveness and challenges. The findings indicate that accreditation contributes to increased patient satisfaction, financial efficiency, and a stronger culture of safety, although challenges remain, such as high costs, limited human resources, and administrative bureaucracy. Therefore, accreditation reform strategies should incorporate information technology, financial support for small hospitals, and long-term evaluation to ensure that its benefits are effectively realised.
