Literature Review: Hospital Risk Management Implementation For Enchance Patient Safety

Abstract

Patient safety is a crucial aspect of healthcare services that requires effective risk management strategies. Therefore, the author is interested in conducting a literature review on implementing hospital risk management to enhance patient safety. This study employs a literature review method by gathering references from various relevant academic journals published between 2020 and 2025. The journal selection process follows the PRISMA method, which includes searching, screening, and assessing journal quality based on topic relevance and research methodology. Out of 1,396 identified journals, 20 with the highest relevance and quality were selected for analysis. The findings indicate that implementing risk management strategies, such as the Surgical Safety Checklist, patient identification systems, and risk management training, significantly contribute to improving patient safety. However, challenges in implementation remain, including low compliance with incident reporting systems, limited human resources, and inadequate technological infrastructure. Therefore, hospitals must enhance healthcare worker education, optimize technology, foster a safety culture, and conduct regular monitoring and evaluation. With these strategies, patient safety can be better ensured, and the risk of medical errors can be significantly reduced.
